Termite Control questions, answered
How do I know if I have termites or flying ants?
Look at the waist and wings. Termite swarmers have straight antennae, a thick waist, and four equal-length wings. Flying ants have elbowed antennae, a pinched waist, and front wings longer than the back pair. If you're not sure, save one in a plastic bag — we'll identify it for free during your inspection.
Does homeowners insurance cover termite damage?
Almost never. Insurance companies consider termite damage preventable, so repairs — which can easily run into the tens of thousands — come out of pocket. That's why prevention and early detection matter so much in a high-pressure state like Georgia.
My home is new construction. Do I still need termite protection?
Yes. New homes in Georgia are attractive targets: construction disturbs the soil, scrap lumber is often buried near the foundation, and the wood is untreated unless a pre-treatment was done. Many new-home warranties also require proof of ongoing termite protection.
How long does a termite treatment take, and do we need to leave?
Most liquid treatments are completed in a single visit, typically a few hours depending on the size and foundation type of your home. You do not need to leave — the treatment happens in the soil around and under the structure, and treated areas are safe once dry.
